Massive Catering Hall Fire in Westfield
MYFOXNY.COM - Fire officials say a massive five-alarm fire tore through a row of businesses in New Jersey early Sunday evening.
The fire began at the Clyne & Murphy catering business in Westfield at 5:40 p.m. Officials said the flames shot through the top of the building causing the roof to collapse.
125 firefighters from eight different departments were called in to help battle the blaze, which destroyed at least six different businesses. The fire also destroyed a barber shop that was a staple in the town for over 50 years.
Heavy smoke continued to pour out of the catering building located at 439 South Avenue West. The flames could be seen from the roof of the structure as firefighters continued to douse the blaze.
No one was hurt and fire officials have no word on how the fire was started.
